Crate Training and Potty Training go hand in hand

Using a crate in daily practice is an area of hot debate. There are impassioned believers on both “sides” of the issue who try to polarize use of this basic training tool.

At Dog Training 360, we see no need to polarize the crate — ultimately live with your dog in a way that works for you and your family. Big picture, if you’re living in complete harmony with your dog, and have no concerns — celebrate and keep doing what you’re doing!

If what you’re doing now is NOT working, however : change things up, find new routines, use new tools. Our belief and practice here at Dog Training 360 is that tools are not inherently good or bad. Any tool can be used inappropriately, and therefore, be “bad.” Many tools, on the other hand, when used appropriately are really useful and can be quite successful.

Let’s think about crates, and crating dogs, specifically. Are crates good or bad? If used inappropriately, sure crates can be “bad.” But, if used appropriately, crates are super useful (for both humans and dogs); and, they are humane.
